With our Hogwarts Legacy tips, we’ll help you find your way around the magical game world. We’ll also tell you the best tricks for leveling up and earning money.

Hogwarts Legacy tips and tricks

1) Inventory tips

Sell your items

In Hogwarts Legacy, it’s important to make good use of the inventory space available to you. Especially at the beginning, the space is limited to only 20 inventory slots. That’s why it’s all the more important to regularly sell items. This way you don’t have to throw your items away, but can turn them into shimmering gold.

Enlarge your inventory space

In the beginning, selling items is unavoidable and you have to empty your pockets regularly. However, after you’ve completed the main mission “Trials of Merlin,” you can enlarge your inventory. You can do this by mastering the challenges in the “Merlin Trials.”

After completing the first two trials, you’ll gain eight more inventory slots. These already provide you with much more flexibility on your way through the fantastic game world of Hogwarts Legacy.

2) What should you buy first?

In Hogwarts Legacy, it’s worthwhile to invest in the right things. First, you should buy seeds with which you can make potions in the Room of Requirement. Knotgrass is especially important, as well as mandrakes and venomous Tentacula.

Collect as many resources as you can and buy all the seeds as soon as possible. Now, if you buy large plant and potion stations, you’ll ensure a steady supply of potions. The magical potions in Hogwarts Legacy are as versatile as the game world.

3) Buy a broom and upgrade it

You don’t need a broom to play Quidditch in Hogwarts Legacy. That’s because Phineas Nigellus Black is no Albus Dumbledore. Instead of a wise, kind-hearted, and humorous principal, you’ll have to deal with a much less friendly face. During your school year, Quidditch is banned from the wizarding school, which Black decided due to an injury the previous season.

Nevertheless, the broom is one of the most important items in Hogwarts Legacy: it’s one of the best means of transportation. You can get a broom for 600 gold. There are 13 different models, which look different but have the same flight characteristics in common. The flight behavior can only be improved by the quest “Flight Test.” After completing three timed races, you can buy one upgrade each in Hogsmeade.

4) Travel faster with Floo Flames

Hogwarts Legacy is the first open-world game in the Wizarding World franchise. So it’s not unsurprising that the game world turns out to be vast and huge. Therefore, you should unlock the fast travel points on the map as soon as possible. Ideally, you’ll keep an eye out for the travel points on your way as a wizard or witch apprentice and activate them when you’re near them.

In Hogwarts Legacy, Floo Flames serve as fast travel points. Ports that have yet to be activated show up as gray flames on the map. Green flames mark the stations you can already use.

5) Collect Demiguise statues

As you already know from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts series, Hogwarts is a place full of mysteries that are also to be discovered in Hogwarts Legacy. How will you find each secret that lurks behind hidden doors? You’ll have to learn the Alohomora spell and gradually improve it. For the highest level, you’ll need all the Demiguise statues.

How to level up quickly in Hogwarts Legacy

1) Battle arenas

Battle arenas are the best place in the game to level up quickly. Here you’ll have to fight your way through hordes of enemies and will be rewarded with plenty of XP. You’ll receive experience points for each wave of enemies you beat back, as well as for passing the arena. You can repeat this as often as you want and thus boost your level properly.

The arenas are scattered all over the game world of Hogwarts Legacy. There are three battle arenas in total. You can find them in the following locations:

  • Nord Ford Bog region
  • Feldcroft
  • Forbidden Forest (Dark Arts Battle Arena)

Access to the Dark Arts Battle Arena is only available to players who own the Deluxe Edition.

2) Collect Field Guide pages

Another game activity that earns you a lot of XP is collecting Field Guide pages. At special locations in the game world, you’ll make previously invisible pages visible through Revelio. Additionally, you can catch already visible pages with Accio. Another helpful spell is Levioso. Because sometimes you have to move an object to get to the Field Guide page. This also applies to other objects. You get a total of 80 XP per page.

On the map, you’ll find an overview of the Field Guide pages in each region. You can also see how many you’ve already collected. Keep an eye out for missing pages if you’re in that region anyway. Manual pages are usually found near stores, sculptures, and paintings. You can often spot a slight glimmer that will serve as a clue.

Earning Gold in Hogwarts Legacy

1) Open chests

As you explore the open-world game world of Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll regularly come across chests. In them, you’ll find gold and other valuable items. If you don’t have any use for the items, you can exchange them for gold. However, not all chests can be opened without problems. Sometimes it takes some skill, intuition, or a spell to get to the much sought-after treasure.

2) Selling items

The best way to earn gold in Hogwarts Legacy is by selling items. After all, you don’t need every item you find. When it comes to equipment, you should be strict: Equip the best items and sell the rest.

This will save you valuable item slots and in turn provide you with new wealth. If possible, you should repeat this before each series of quests. Don’t worry about your skins: they will remain with you throughout the game.

It’s always worth investing in new inventory slots. After all, the more items you have, the more you can sell. To do this, go to the “Merlin Trials,” which are displayed as a leaf symbol on the map. To start the challenge, you need Mallowsweet Leaves. Place it in the right place (on the icon next to the column) to drive away the vines.

You can sell items to any merchant. The sale value depends on the rarity of the item. There are four groups:

  • legendary gear will bring you the highest amount: 200 gold
  • extraordinary gear will give you 150 gold
  • superb gear is rewarded with 90 gold
  • well-appointed gear, which appears most often in the game, will get you 60 gold

3) Animal trade

In Hogwarts Legacy, of course, the fantastic beasts must not be missing. You can earn 120 Galleons with one animal. However, this possibility only opens up after a certain point in the main story. Before that, you won’t get to see the magical creatures. Once you’ve unlocked the story point, you’ll be able to trade pets at Brood and Peck in Hogsmeade.
