Everwind throws you into a survival adventure where making smart decisions is just as important as fighting. Our Everwind tips and tricks will help you get started quickly, avoid common mistakes, and make your first hours in the skies much easier.

Stats Overview

In Everwind, survival depends on more than just Health. The game monitors five core stats, and neglecting any of them can lead to trouble quickly.

  • Health doesn’t recover on its own and must be restored with Cooked Food or Healing Potions
  • Stamina is used for sprinting, blocking, heavy attacks, and dodge rolls, but fully regenerates when you stay still
  • Warmth drops at night and in cold, high areas, so you need campfires, warm gear, or a Fur Cloak
  • Hydration decreases over time and should be replenished with Clean Water or Soups
  • Hunger decreases more slowly, but Cooked Food is much better than raw food because it provides buffs

The two stats that lead to the most early deaths in Everwind are Warmth and Hydration. Tainted Water might help quench your thirst, but it also lowers your Max Stamina by 50%, which can make fights and travel significantly more difficult.


What to Do First

Your first goal in Everwind is simple: prepare yourself properly before fighting starts. The starting area gives you an advantage, but only if you approach it like a supply run instead of a place to sprint through. Before you leave the starting tower, loot it thoroughly. Many players overlook items they end up rebuilding later for no good reason.

  • Take every useful workstation you can carry
  • Grab storage chests for extra space on your ship
  • Keep the torches, since they are handy in a fight if you’re desperate
  • Check corners and tucked-away spots for bonus loot and crafting materials

After that, resist the urge to explore too early in Everwind. The smarter move is to build your foundation first.

  1. Farm the basics right away: Start chopping trees and smashing rocks near spawn until you have enough materials to actually work with. You want a solid stack of wood and stone before worrying about adventure.
  2. Upgrade from bare hands right away: Your first crafted tools should be the axe and pickaxe. They accelerate everything and unlock better resource gathering. If you want extra safety, craft a shield early as well.
  3. Prioritize water: One of the biggest beginner mistakes is drinking any water you find. Dirty water fixes one problem but creates another because the stamina penalty can ruin both combat and travel. Drink clean water early, and life becomes much easier.
  4. Treat night like a checkpoint: Make sure you’re prepared before sunset. Set up a campfire, stay warm, organize your inventory, and craft what you need for the next day.

If you do all this first, the early game feels much less punishing and more manageable.


Select a Combat Path

When Everwind starts unlocking its combat options, it’s tempting to put points everywhere and try a little of everything. That might seem versatile, but early on it usually just weakens your build. You get more value by focusing on one path first.

The game separates combat into physical and magic, and both can become powerful. The problem is that the skill trees reward focus. If you split your points between Warrior and Arcanist, you slow down your access to the better upgrades in both trees instead of reaching the strong stuff quickly in one.

A better approach is to pick the style that feels most natural and stick with it for a while.

  • Go Warrior if you prefer direct, reliable damage
  • Go Arcanist if you like casting and building around magic
  • Stick to one tree early so higher tiers unlock faster
  • Choose ranged or melee based on what feels easier for you
  • Branch out later once your main style feels stable

The early game in Everwind is usually more friendly to physical combat because it’s easier to get started with. But whichever path you choose, the key is consistency. A focused build levels up faster, hits harder, and is much more enjoyable to play than one that spreads points out too much.


Crafting and Resources

In Everwind, crafting is what drives your progress. If your setup is cluttered or incomplete, everything else slows down as well. The best strategy is to build a solid foundation early and arrange your key stations in the proper order.

Start with the essentials:

  1. Crafting Station for your first important recipes
  2. Carpenter Station for planks, building parts, and airship materials
  3. Smithing Station to work with metal, together with a Furnace

Try to keep these together inside a small sheltered base. It saves time, keeps things organized, and allows for future expansion with stations like the Alchemy Station or Block Station.

A few smart crafting priorities can help you avoid a lot of trouble:

  • Place a Repair Station near your Smithing Station
  • Mine Copper early, since it unlocks much better gear
  • Smelt extra ingots before you think you need them
  • Use Coal as fuel when you find it, because it lasts much longer than wood

Copper is especially vital early on in Everwind. When you see those orange-tinted ore veins on cliffs or in caves, start harvesting them. Copper tools last longer and are more efficient than stone, and Copper Armor marks your first real step into survivable gear.

Also, don’t overlook the Compendium. Gathering new materials in Everwind records useful details about what they are, where they originate, and what they can become. Even if you’re not ready to use something yet, collecting it once can be very helpful later.

Once you unlock the Block Station, building becomes much easier. Many raw materials are not ready to place right away, so this station converts them into proper building pieces and gives you much more freedom in base design.


Airship Tips

Your first airship doesn’t have to look pretty, but it must be practical. In Everwind, your ship isn’t just for transportation. It’s your gateway to new altitude zones, better loot, and faster progress. A poor layout will still get off the ground, but a smart one makes the entire game experience smoother.

  • Cockpit
  • Engine
  • Balloons
  • Energy Generator

A good rule is to place the cockpit first and build outward from there. Keep your engine directly behind it so the layout remains clean and easy to expand later. For the balloons, balance is important. If they’re not placed evenly, your ship can tilt and feel awkward in the air.

Use Water to Dodge Enemies

Early fights in Everwind can go south very quickly, especially when your gear still feels weak and you are short on healing. The good news is that there is a very easy escape trick: use water.

Many enemies in Everwind are eager to chase you on land, but most of them stop being a threat as soon as you jump into a river or off the shore. That makes water one of the safest ways to relieve pressure when a fight starts to get out of control.

Keep this in mind when things turn ugly:

  • Most enemies won’t follow you into water
  • Jumping in can buy you time to heal, recover, or rethink the fight
  • Boats and your airship make escaping even safer

Avoid These Mistakes

Everwind becomes much easier when you quit a few bad habits before they take hold. Some mistakes seem small at the moment, but they can seriously slow your progress or even get you killed much earlier than expected.

Here are the big ones to avoid:

  • Don’t rush into Altitude 2 too early: if you leave Altitude 1 undergeared, enemies will punish you quickly. Copper Armor and a solid Copper weapon should be your minimum requirements.
  • Don’t waste Ancient Metal Scraps: These are too valuable to use randomly in low-priority crafts. Save them for your Energy Generator unless you’re absolutely sure you can spare them.
  • Don’t overlook your Skill Points: Many players forget to spend them immediately. That only makes combat more difficult than it needs to be. Invest early, especially in your main combat path.
  • Don’t build a sloppy airship: If your balloon placement is uneven, your ship can drift and become hard to control. Keep the layout balanced from the beginning.
  • Don’t forget how dangerous cold can be: Night and higher elevations can overwhelm you if you’re not ready. Keep a campfire going and get warm clothing as soon as possible.
  • Don’t waste Blueprints: Use them immediately or store them securely. Once used, the recipe remains unlocked permanently.
