Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey sends you to Ancient Greece, where you’ll experience firsthand the conflicts between Athens and the Greeks. You’ll also visit extraordinary locations and fight in impressive mass battles with over 100 NPCs. In this Assassin’s Creed Odyssey best weapons guide, you’ll learn more about the weapons in the game and we’ll give you some tips on armor so that you’re ready for every situation.

1) General Tips on Equipment

Equipment of epic rarity can be better than legendary parts. Weapons and equipment parts of both rarity levels have three fixed perks. Another one can be unlocked at the blacksmith.

Here, the perks differ because the epic perks are generally simpler, making it easier for you to customize them to your play style. Examples of perks are more armor or more hunter damage. In contrast, your legendary items can have a special perk that lets you deal more damage or breathe underwater.

Another useful tip for equipment is to keep the old parts. Thus, you shouldn’t disassemble or sell them but keep them if their perks match your playstyle. In the stern of the ship, you can find additional storage space if you don’t have room in your inventory.

Skills can duplicate with individual perks of legendary equipment items. An example of this is turning attacks into flaming attacks. Since there’s already a skill for this, you should instead go for an item with a more helpful perk.

2) The Best Weapons For Hunters

Vine Bow

Among the best weapons in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is the Vine Bow. This is one of the strongest bows when you play as a hunter. The golden perk gives you an additional 25% hunter damage but also -15% armor. The latter isn’t really necessary though, since you use the bow for sniping enemies from a long distance.

Moreover, it deals 25% more hunter damage and 20% more ranged damage regularly. You can purchase it for 250 Helix Credits or, if you’re lucky, get it for free from the Oikos of the Olympians merchant.

Tip for hunters: If you’re currently fighting with a bow, you can quickly light your arrows by holding them up to a fireplace which is similar to lighting a torch. The flaming arrows do significantly more damage than regular arrows. Fire arrows can also be unlocked in the skill tree. The hunter skill “Arrow Muster” must be leveled for this.

Achilles’ Bow

An alternative to the Vine Bow in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is Achilles’ Bow. This is also excellent for hunters. It brings a ten percent chance of critical hits, 25% more hunter damage, and 20% more damage with the Devastating Shot ability. With the Predator Shot ability, the chance of critical hits is increased even more.

3) The Best Warrior Weapons

Isu-Forged Warrior’s Spear

The Isu-Forged Warrior’s Spear deals 25% more warrior damage and 30% more spear damage. A perk converts a 50% warrior damage bonus into a bonus for all damage. This gives you more flexibility in your combat actions and allows you to better adapt to enemy attacks. You can get this legendary spear in the Atlantis DLC.

Cursed Bow of Hades

The Cursed Bow of Hades is among the best weapons in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The legendary bow deals 25% more warrior damage and 40% fire damage. Furthermore, the last perk sets enemies close to you on fire.

The normal Bow of Hades differs from the cursed variant only in the last perk, as the Bow of Hades only converts regular arrows into incendiary arrows.

In any case, using the Flaming Attack ability and pairing it with the Cursed Bow of Hades will set your enemies on fire. With this skill, fire damage is done with melee weapons and fire arrows; in general, the attacks become very deadly.

Hero’s Sword

The Hero’s Sword does 25% more assassination damage and gives you 40% more adrenaline on critical hits. It also increases the damage of your critical attacks by 20%. You’ll receive the weapon for completing the quest series “A Friend Worth Dying For.”

Poseidon’s Trident

Poseidon’s Trident allows you to breathe underwater in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The legendary perk enables you to use this ability if the trident is equipped. However, the other skills of the weapon aren’t powerful, so you should use it mainly for diving missions.

The weapon can be found on a small island in the eastern part of the map, north of Samos and south of Chios, at the Temple of Poseidon.

4) The Best Weapons For Assassins

Fanged Bow

The Fanged Bow is one of the best assassin weapons in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. It increases the assassination damage by 25% and the poison damage by 40%. Also, regular arrows become poison arrows, and with the Poison Mastery ability, the effectiveness of the poison is increased by another 25%.

Dionysus’ Tears

Another strong assassin weapon is the dagger Dionysus’ Tears. It increases the assassination damage by 25% and your adrenaline on critical hits by 40%. It also gives you a two percent chance of 25% assassination damage on melee hits.

5) Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Best Weapons Guide: Tips on Armor

Armor parts, like weapons, are divided into four levels of rarity in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Armor has five parts – head, chest, hips, arms, and legs. When all parts of a suit of armor are equipped, the sets consisting of legendary armor parts provide a unique bonus.

Therefore, epic armor pieces can also be more valuable than legendary ones. These offer three perks and thus don’t rely on the set bonus like legendary pieces of armor. Common armor pieces have one bonus attribute, and rare attributes have two attributes accordingly.

6) Engravings

All equipment items, except those for your ship, are equipped with a slot for an engraving of your choice. You can add it to your weapon as a bonus. You should adjust the engravings to your play style. For example, if you play an assassin and they already have specific stats, you can increase the assassination damage by 20% with an engraving. This allows you to create a set that fits your playstyle.

You can have your engraving made by the blacksmith in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The engravable stats can be upgraded with stone tablets from the Ostrakon riddles. You can also find engravable stats at the merchant in the Myson Cave near the Temple of Artemis.
