Farming Simulator 25 Tips & Tricks | Beginner’s Guide

One of the best-selling games in Germany is entering a new round and bringing some changes with it. In our Farming Simulator 25 Tips and Tricks, we show you how to successfully grow crops, which commands you can give to the AI, and which equipment you should buy. We also take a look at the construction and order system.

1) Choose a specialization

Before you begin, you’ll need to choose a specialization. In FS25, you can play in three different directions.

One of them is Forestry. You can make a lot of money by cutting down trees. However, two essential things are needed to be successful: skill and ability with the machines and a high starting capital to buy the equipment.

Another specialization is animal husbandry. On some maps, you start with livestock on your farm. To increase your herd, you can buy or breed additional animals. They must be fed to produce. They can’t starve to death. They will stop producing if you don’t have the resources or time to feed them.

The standard specialization in Farming Simulator 25 is agriculture. You earn money and expand your farm by planting seeds, cultivating fields, and harvesting crops. The various stages of farming are realistically recreated.

2) Farming Simulator 25 Tips: Hire employees

Compared to its predecessors, AI support has been greatly expanded in Farming Simulator 25. You can now assign many different tasks to your workers to help you harvest more and faster. For example, you can have them automatically travel from one point on the map to another and plow fields. Or you can order them to sell fruit or deliver cargo.

Farming Simulator 25 Tips: Hire employees

To avoid giving instructions every time, you can set up routines that will be played during each planting cycle. In addition, you can enable certain activities in your employees’ settings so that they can perform them independently. These include refilling fertilizers and seeds, as well as fueling vehicles.

It’s also handy that you can learn from the AI. If you’re unsure how to perform a specific farm task, give the command to one of your employees. Then press the Tab key (or the D-pad if you’re using a controller). The camera will follow your employee, and you can see exactly how the task is performed.

3) Which equipment do you need?

Unless you start Farming Simulator 25 in Easy Mode, you’ll need to invest in equipment initially. First, check the price menu to see which fruits bring the highest yield and focus on those. The following checklist shows you what you need to grow them:

  • Weeder (to remove weeds from the fields)
  • Tractor (to operate the machinery)
  • Trailer (to transport your produce to the points of sale)
  • Harvester (to bring in the crop)
  • Cultivator (to prepare the fields for planting)
  • Seeder (to sow the seeds)
  • Fertilizer spreader (to optimize the nutritional value of the soil)

When choosing a tractor, you should make sure that it has enough power to operate the machine. So, think carefully about which vehicle is right for your purposes. Your harvester needs the right cutting tool for your crop to work optimally. We recommend starting with a classic grain header.

4) How to plow your first field

Of course, our Farming Simulator 25 tips and tricks wouldn’t be complete without a guide to plowing fields. So here is our step-by-step guide. First of all, you need land to farm. Sign a contract to buy a field, then decide which crop to plant first. We recommend rapeseed for beginners.

Then, buy all the equipment mentioned in the previous tip for beginners and attach the cultivator to your tractor. Drive over your field to get rid of all the weeds. Then go to town and buy some seeds. Attach the seeder to the tractor and fill it with seed. Activate the machine and plant row after row of future seedlings.

Once all that is done, it makes sense to fertilize the soil. Buy bags of fertilizer at the store, pour it into the fertilizer spreader, and drive over the field with the machine on. Now, all you have to do is wait and let the plants grow. When they are big enough, you can pick them up with the harvester and put your trailer under the spreader so the grain can fall into it. Finally, you drive it to the point of sale.

5) Vehicle tips

The car dealer in Farming Simulator 25 is represented on the map by a yellow shopping cart. The selection is enormous, and you may be tempted to overspend. Over time, there is no reason not to buy something, but at first, you should only buy what you really need.

You can find a list of all machines under the Vehicles and Equipment tabs. You can also sort them by make. Moreover, each vehicle can be painted and configured to your liking. However, you can buy your first machines in the Used Equipment section if you want to save money.

However, before a used tractor or used harvester runs as well as a new one, a few things usually need to be done. Make repairs if necessary and clean your purchase. This is usually worthwhile, as the discounts at used dealers are often very large. Any purchased equipment will be parked in front of the dealership for you to pick up after the transaction.

6) Avoid seasonal growth at the beginning

The growing seasons in FS25 are very complex and can quickly frustrate new players. We recommend that you turn them off for now. To do this, go to Settings and select the Game Settings option. Then, set Seasonal Growth to No.

However, don’t enable the pause function. This will completely stop growth so that nothing will grow at all. With seasonal growth disabled, your crops will not wither, even if you miss harvest day or plant at the wrong time.

7) Take on contracts

Since there is no overall goal in Farming Simulator 25, contracts are an excellent way to add structure to your work. You can get them from NPCs scattered around the map. Fulfilling them will also teach you a lot about the game.

Under the Contracts menu, you’ll find a list of contracts you can accept. These will change over time, so check back from time to time to see if something interests you.

For each contract, you can choose to use your own equipment or rented equipment. If you choose the latter, you’ll be charged a fee. The rented equipment will be at your disposal in front of the merchant’s house as if you had bought it.

8) Get animals later

If you decide to specialize in farming in Farming Simulator 25, we recommend that you do it without animals for the time being. Keeping and caring for them takes a lot of time and effort, and doing this, in addition to working in the fields, will overwhelm you in the beginning.

Exceptions are a dog or bees for honey. Both types of animals require almost no care. On the other hand, chickens, horses, sheep, cows, and pigs require a lot of care before they start producing. It’s better to put off breeding them until later when your fieldwork is largely automated.

9) Build Mode

Finally, let’s take a look at the Build Mode. To open it, press the Shift and P keys. Five tabs and subcategories will appear. You can use them to create your own farmhouse, build garages for your vehicles, or construct sheds for your machines.

There are also warehouses for your crops and stables for your animals. You can individually place each building. For example, having a marketplace near you will save you time on transportation. You can also change the landscape by lowering and raising the ground and buy decorations.
