The second part of the new FF trilogy picks up right where the remake left off. Our Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Tips and Tricks show you how to master the real-time battles and get the most out of the Materia. We explain what has changed from its predecessor and what newcomers to the franchise need to know.
Table of Contents
1) Visit the Chocobo Ranches
Visiting the local Chocobo ranch is the first thing you should do when entering a new area in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. After all, the animals are tied to the regions, and without the flightless mounts, you have no chance of exploring 100 percent of an area.
Also, you’ll get around much faster with them than without them. So always do the farm side mission and unlock fast travel in the Open Zone with the new Chocobo type.
2) Materia Can Be Combined
You must assign Materia to your equipment and weapons to unlock abilities. The unique thing about this is that the Materia slots can trigger synergies.
When a combination lights up, you’ve found a compatible combination with a buffing effect. If the slots don’t light up, the effect will not happen, and you should try another combination.
3) Get To Know Your Weapons
Depending on your play style, certain weapons may be more enjoyable than others. However, we recommend using each one until you’ve mastered its special ability. All characters in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth use their special ability with the ATB bar. If you use it in combat for a while, it will become second nature. After that, you won’t need to equip the weapon to use the ability.
It’s best to get into the habit of equipping every new weapon you find. Once you’ve mastered the special skill, you can switch back to your favorite weapon.
4) Use the Combat Simulator
Help Chadley with his research by using his combat simulator in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Not only is this good practice, but it will also give you rewards in the form of Materia, accessories, and manuscripts. Be sure to use the Materia Skill Enemy Technique. With this skill, you can learn skills from your opponents and use them yourself later.
The Simulator plays a much more significant role in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth than it did in the first part of the remake. You should visit it in every new area. Unlocking each area’s shrines will give you access to lower difficulty levels in the VR. Since the battles in the simulator can be very challenging, you should activate at least one shrine before trying them.
5) Combat Tips
Analyze Your Opponent
Know your opponent’s strengths and weaknesses. Analyzing your enemies is one of our most important Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth tips and tricks. Whenever a monster is not yet in your database, you should start analyzing it first. Once you’ve done it, the results for the opponent’s type are permanently available.
It will tell you what elements your opponent is vulnerable to and if they have any resistances. It will also tell you their victory bonuses and items they can drop after the fight. It also gives you statistics on how many monsters of that type you have defeated.
Synergy Attacks and Abilities
Synergy attacks weren’t available in the original Final Fantasy VII. These powerful special attacks are activated when you use the action buttons while blocking. The best thing about them is that they don’t reduce your ATB and are a great way to unlock valuable buffs.
Synergy attacks can be used in any combination, and there are many attacks to choose from. Try different ones to see what effects they have. You can see how much of your Synergy Bar you’ve filled by looking at the five-step scale below the ATB bar.
Switching Characters
Since the Synergy Bar fills up more quickly for active characters in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you may want to switch characters during combat. When two of the bars are full, you can trigger a synergy. This can result in a third ATB bar, increased damage, or no mana being used for magic attacks.
Pressure and Stagger Opponents
There is a second bar below your opponent’s HP bar. As you damage your enemy, they will become increasingly pressured and begin to stumble. To reach this state as quickly as possible, it’s a good idea to alternate between different types of attacks (physical, mana, etc.).
Once the pressure bar is full, your opponent will begin to stumble. This increases the amount of damage your attacks do. Some monsters have additional elemental weaknesses when pressured, which you can exploit.
Blocking Instead of Dodging
If you can successfully dodge in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you’ll take no damage from attacks. The only problem is that most enemies have very fast attacks, and you will take full damage if you fail to dodge. So, it’s better to block. This will reduce your HP a bit. However, the chance of success is much higher. Moreover, using a block will recharge your ATB bar a bit. And if you time your perfect parry right, you won’t lose any health.
Healing Between Battles
Never enter a fight when your characters’ Health Bars are severely damaged. While some skills allow you to passively heal yourself during a fight, doing so will only put you on the defensive. Instead, replenish your party’s HP bars between fights and make sure you have enough healing items.
6) Unlock Elemental Damage Skills
Focus on the elemental damage skill cores in the folio. They have the advantage of not requiring you to use mana points to exploit an opponent’s weaknesses. Although they do less damage than MP attacks, elemental knockdowns work well with other attacks.
For example, use it to put your opponent under pressure. You can follow up with a Mana attack, which they are particularly vulnerable to while under pressure.
7) Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Tips on Crafting
In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, crafting is called synthesis. This is how you save Gil by creating items from collected materials. Some missions even require you to craft the items yourself, as they can’t be bought anywhere.
Initially, you’ll only be able to craft a few simple items. Even if you don’t need them, we recommend you craft each item at least once. This will give you experience points that will increase your synthesis level. The more experience you gain in crafting, the more recipes you’ll unlock.
Over time, it’s even possible to craft Phoenix Feathers and other powerful equipment. Keep an eye out for new crafting materials to gather the necessary ingredients. Collect all the emeralds, amethysts, gold dust, etc., you can get your hands on. A total of 70 different resources can be found in the game world.
