Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Tips and Tricks

With over a million copies sold on the release day, the Czech RPG is already one of the year’s most successful games. In our Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Tips and Tricks, we show you what to keep in mind when fighting, how to level up, and what survival aspects are important.

1) Watch the time of day

Every NPC has their own daily routine. Whether you visit your quest giver early in the morning or the middle of the night makes a big difference. When you’re on a quest, be aware of when the quest is due to be completed and when you have appointments.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 tips: Watch the time of day

It’s best to always work first on side quests with an expiration date. A missed quest can’t be resumed. Like its predecessor, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is an RPG in which you can continue after a failure, but you must live with the consequences.

2) Loot everything you find

After you and Hans had to end your swimming trip and flee abruptly, you have no items left. Especially in the first few hours of the game, you should loot anything and everything that comes your way. This includes the two attackers in front of your guardian’s house, as well as all chests, barrels, etc. Even the bread and cheese on the table in front of the hut should go into your inventory.

Keep in mind that food spoils over time. Dried fruit and salted meat will last longer than fresh fruit, so it’s better to consume the latter first. Regarding equipment in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, look for the blood symbol on your loot. He will be suspicious if you try to sell clothes with this symbol to a vendor.

3) Always go into battle well-fed and rested

Let’s take a look at the survival aspects in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. These have a noticeable effect on your combat abilities. If you’re tired or hungry, your stamina and performance will suffer. If you’re injured and haven’t slept enough, your vision will also be affected. Either your eyes will keep closing, or the edge of the screen will be covered in blood.

KCD 2 Gameplay

If you’re bleeding, you’ll need bandages. Your other health conditions and fatigue can be compensated with sleep. If you turn the time wheel forward, you can see how much your values change. Of course, you lose some of your satiation with each hour of sleep. So, as soon as you wake up, eat breakfast first.

But don’t overdo it. If you overeat in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Henry will slow down and lose his stamina. The quality of the food is also important. Don’t try spoiled food; it’s better to throw it away. In the worst case, you could be poisoned.

4) How to get your horse

After being attacked by the bandits in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, your trusty horse Pebbles is no longer with you. We’ll explain how to get a rideable mount after the prologue. Go from Troskowitz to Tachau and accept the blacksmith’s quest. This will lead you to Semin, where you must talk to the manor’s lord. He will tell you that the stable boy has a horse for sale.

KCD 2 Gameplay

When you talk to the boy, it turns out that the bandits sold your good Pebbles here. Tell the stable boy that she is your stolen horse. If you’re skilled in persuasion, getting Pebbles for free should be no problem.

If your powers of persuasion fail you, you’ll have no choice but to invest 100 pennies. We advise you not to buy any of the other animals. Pebbles isn’t the best horse in the game, but she’s a very good choice, at least to start with.

5) Train with Tomcat

You can find Master Tomcat in the battle arena in the nomad camp west of Semin. Although you’ve already learned the essential elements of fighting, such as parrying, blocking, and punching, by training with Hans, Tomcat will give you some valuable tips for combo attacks in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.

KCD 2 Gameplay

During training, he’ll challenge you to a duel. If you win, he’ll teach you the Master Strike. The only problem is that Tomcat isn’t a beginner but a tough nut to crack. Defeating him before your combat skills have reached level 8 is almost impossible. It’s best to learn Hardened Veteran and Against All Odds as soon as you reach level eight and then face your master.

6) Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 combat tips

KCD 2 Gameplay

The combat tips are the heart of our Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 tips and tricks. If you can’t use your sword correctly, bandits and other enemies will quickly finish you off. Compared to its predecessor, swordplay has been simplified a bit. There are fewer directions to watch out for. However, the combat is still complex.

Study your opponent and mirror his position. If he holds his sword to the right from your point of view, pull yours to the right as well. This way, you will be prepared when he attacks and can block him at the right moment. When the green arrow in the center of your HUD lights up, you perform the block for a perfect parry.

After a perfect parry, immediately go on the attack and land a counter. Want to jump on your opponent and slash him before he attacks? Then, position your sword in the opposite direction of his stance. Draw your sword from the right if his weapon points to the left.

Keep an eye on your stamina level throughout the fight, and don’t let it drop to zero. Your blocks will also require stamina. In addition to the stamina bar, the game will show you how Henry is doing by changing the screen’s color. If your view turns black and white, you’ve overdone it with your stamina.

7) Improve your skills

You’ll get some skill points early in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. You should always spend them. It’s easy to miss the notification in the heat of the moment, so we recommend hitting P regularly and checking your stats. You don’t need to save the points, as each skill is tied to a level anyway, and you get new points with each level.

KCD 2 Gameplay

Read the skill descriptions carefully and consider which ones fit your play style. Some skills cancel each other out. For example, you can make your reputation take less damage when you fail in conversations. But then you won’t be able to choose the perk that increases your reputation when you succeed.

8) Become an alchemist

Alchemy is vital in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. You’ll learn the basics while making Hans his chamomile tea. But being able to brew your own healing potions and Savior Schnapps is a real game changer. It will save you a lot of money and help you prepare for quests.

KCD 2 Gameplay

Gather different herbs along the way to have all the ingredients at hand. Follow the recipes exactly to make sure your potions turn out right. Keep an eye on the hourglass, use the bellows to stoke the fire, and read carefully to see if you should use wine, oil, or something else as the base ingredient. It’s better to check the alchemy book once too often than not.

9) Craft Savior Schnapps

Warhorse Studios wants to give you the most realistic medieval experience possible. Part of this means that certain convenience features that are standard in other RPGs are unavailable. One example is free saving. If you want to create a savegame in KCD 2, you have only two options: close the game entirely or drink a Savior Schnapps.

KCD 2 Gameplay

Especially when you’re on a tricky quest or about to try something dangerous, schnapps can be your savior. Drink one before critical dialogues and fights, and reload if the situation didn’t go as you had hoped.

10) Always carry a shovel

You can use the shovel to dig a grave in the first few minutes after the prologue in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. We recommend keeping this tool in your inventory at all times or in your saddlebags when you’re out and about with Pebbles. The shovel will allow you to dig and loot graves. This item will also help you with some quests.

11) How to become a thief

Even if you want to play Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 by the rules, you’ll occasionally need to get items from chests or inventories as part of the main quest. Pickpocketing, sneaking, and lockpicking are three skills you shouldn’t neglect. Press C to switch to stealth. To sneak successfully, your conspicuousness should be as low as possible.

KCD 2 Gameplay

To go unnoticed, remove rattling armor and skill agility. Remember that bushes and branches make noise when you sneak through them. Opening chests isn’t silent either. Only start picking locks when no one is around to hear you.

12) Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 tips for fast travel

In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, you can quickly travel between previously visited regions anytime. Just press M and click on the region you want to go to. However, there are two crucial points to keep in mind. First, your hunger and fatigue levels will increase as you travel. And second, there’s a chance that you’ll be attacked.

KCD 2 Gameplay

Therefore, you should only travel long distances if you’re well-equipped, well-fed, and well-rested. Keep an eye on the screen at all times. If you’re attacked, you must react quickly.
