We can finally experience Naughty Dog’s hit on PC with graphical enhancements and new game modes. In our The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered Tips and Tricks, we’ll show you how to master the combat system, what to look out for when sneaking, and which skills and upgrades are most worthwhile.

1) Combat Tips

Don’t stay behind cover during combat. If the Infected manage to surround you in TLOU Part 2 Remastered, you’ll be zombie fodder in no time. Instead, try to move around a lot and take advantage of the size of the area.

Set traps

Conserve ammo by luring the larger enemy specimens into traps. You should always have a few of these ready to go. It’s easy to forget them in the heat of battle, but they can do a lot of damage even if your traps aren’t upgraded.

Learn how to dodge

Practice dodging and get the timing right. After all, you don’t have a lot of stamina in The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, and a single well-aimed shot from an infected person can be enough to blow your lights out. A combination of dodging and counterattacking is crucial when fighting not just one but several zombies.

The right order

Speaking of multiple enemies. When facing groups, take care of the weaker enemies first. It’s best to ambush them, reducing the number of people who can draw attention to you. If you jump on the big ones at the beginning of a confrontation, the others will easily attack you from behind or from the side. The fewer enemies you have to deal with at once, the easier the fight will be.

Final combat tips

It’s imperative that you master headshots. This will save you ammunition and make fights shorter and easier. Some enemies can be killed with a well-aimed headshot.

Choose your currently equipped weapon based on the type of enemy you’re attacking. For stealth assassinations, a knife will suffice. You will need a ranged weapon for long-range attacks, and so on.

To avoid fights, you can distract your opponents. Throw an object in the direction you want the enemy to go, wait a moment, and then leave your cover. Now you can move to the next location undetected.

2) Explore & loot

While the first few minutes of the game are still very linear, the world becomes more open and expansive from downtown Seattle onward. Of course, there are still quest markers to tell you where to go next in the story, but one of our top The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered tips is not to stick to them rigidly.

Visit every building and stay off the main paths whenever possible. Find every hiding place and scour every nook and cranny. Your explorations will usually be rewarded with collectibles, new crafting materials, and other valuable loot.

Occasionally, you’ll even come across survival guides that give you additional skills and weapons. Also, remember that earlier areas will close as you progress through the story of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. If you haven’t fully explored them, you’ve missed your chance. So, take your time and go on a journey of discovery before continuing with the story.

3) The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered tips on stealth

Because melee combat is dangerous, you don’t have much stamina, and your ammo is always low and limited, stealth is essential. The Last of Us Part 2 may be made by the same developer as the Uncharted series. But unlike the action-adventure games, this survival game requires you to be calmer and more methodical.

Watch your enemies and analyze their movements, numbers, and weapons. Hide behind cover or in tall grass. The latter will make you almost invisible. Activate eavesdropping mode to find out exactly where the Infected are. This even works through walls and most other obstacles.

The key to successful stealth is to make no noise. Every shot you fire will attract enemies in your vicinity. Take advantage of opportunities to perform silent kills. For example, stabbing from behind with a knife. Create silencers for your firearms and use silent bows.

4) Useful skills & upgrades

If you follow our TLOU Part 2 tips on exploration, you’ll find many of the pills you need to upgrade your skills. Combined with the Survival Guides, these will help you properly develop your four skill trees.

The upgrades you choose will depend on your personal play style. Increasing your HP is always a good idea. For newcomers to the game, expanding the range of your eavesdropping mode is also a good idea. Crafting skills can also pay off in the long run. Learn how to craft arrows and silencers to eliminate enemies from a distance.

When it comes to weapons, you’ll need to keep an eye out for workbenches. That’s where you’ll invest the screws you find to upgrade Ellie’s arsenal. When upgrading your weapons, make accuracy your first priority. When you start out, your accuracy is pretty poor, leading to high ammo consumption and precarious situations in combat.

Once your accuracy is up to a good level, invest your loot in more penetration. This will increase the amount of damage you deal per hit.
