Table of Contents
1) Don’t wait for Kelly
As your computer-assisted partner, you have a police AI named Officer Kelly at your side. He’s helpful, but not perfect. For example, it can take him a few seconds to get in the car after an investigation. This can be very annoying, especially in dangerous situations where speed is of the essence.
The good news is that you don’t have to wait for him. Just drive off without him and focus on the chase. He will then spawn next to you automatically. There are no negative consequences for you.
2) Look around for crimes
You don’t need a mission to get started. Just patrol the streets and keep your eyes open. Crimes in The Precinct occur randomly and dynamically. If you notice anything suspicious, investigate it.
Dealing with events such as fights or armed gang attacks will earn you many experience points. Even more minor incidents are worthwhile, though. For example, address misdemeanors, such as parking violations, to stay busy when there are no major crimes.
3) Complete your investigation in the correct order
In theory, you can check anyone on the street in The Precinct. However, to avoid trouble later on, follow the correct procedure. Always check their ID first, and then search their pockets. If you search their pockets before checking their ID, you will lose experience points, even if the person is guilty.
If you determine that a suspect has nothing suspicious on them, you must let them go. However, if you find drugs, making an arrest is mandatory. In the case of counterfeit goods, a fine is usually sufficient. An exception is if the person reacts aggressively or tries to flee. In that case, you may use handcuffs.
After an arrest in The Precinct, you can decide whether to record the offense yourself or have Officer Kelly do it. We recommend taking it into your own hands. After all, you’ll earn more experience points for doing so. However, remember that you can’t change your notes later and will receive deductions for incorrect information.
If you want to search someone in a car, proceed as follows:
- Check ID.
- Conduct an alcohol test.
- Search the trunk.
- Let the driver get out.
- Issue a warning, fine, or arrest.
4) These upgrades are important
Most of our The Precinct tips and tricks aim to help you earn as many experience points as possible. That’s why knowing how to use your skill points best after each level up is essential. There are four main categories: Physical, Combat, Policing, and Vehicle.
Health and stamina are essential since you’ll be walking a lot, chasing people, and frequently getting into shootouts. Therefore, your top priority at the beginning should be the Physical category. We recommend allocating one point to increase your health by 50 percent and another to increase your stamina.
After investing your first two points in Physical, move on to Combat. Here, you should ideally select more ammunition. Later, invest in Police Policing improvements, such as a greater range, roadblocks, and access to a patrol car.
You can ignore vehicle upgrades at first. Damage to your patrol car is negligible during the first few hours of the game. Only after exhausting the other three skill trees will the Vehicle category’s automatic tire repair and taking over other vehicles become interesting.
5) Personally escort your suspects
Of course, you could have support units pick up the suspects in The Precinct. However, that would mean giving away experience points unnecessarily. We recommend doing this yourself to earn 250 XP per person transported instead of just 50 XP.
After all, there is room in your car for up to two additional people (equivalent to 500 extra experience points). Once you’ve arrested a criminal, you don’t need to drive to the station immediately; you can continue patrolling. You can deliver them both as soon as you apprehend a second lawbreaker.
Officer Kelly can also take a suspect to the station. However, to ensure you receive the full XP, immediately take the suspect into custody upon arrival at the station. Although transporting them will ultimately take longer than if you had called for backup, the experience points will definitely make up for it.
6) How to earn XP quickly
Here are a few more quick tips on how to earn XP in The Precinct as quickly as possible:
- Parking tickets can be issued quickly, even while transporting suspects (each ticket is worth 100 XP).
- Complete tasks in your assigned patrol area. This will earn you an extra 50 XP each time.
- Don’t let suspects leave your territory. You’ll lose 25 XP for each escape, even if you arrest them later.
- Choose shifts with the largest patrol area possible. This will give you more assignments and reduce the likelihood of escape.
- Always read suspects their rights when handcuffing them. Doing so earns you 50 experience points. If you forget this step, you will have XP deducted later.
7) More The Precinct tips
Finally, here are a few beginner tips for better police work in The Precinct:
- Don’t be intimidated by the manual. You can open it anytime and don’t have to memorize everything from the start.
- You don’t have to strictly adhere to traffic rules while on duty. Break through fences and leave the road if necessary. The most important thing is that no one gets hurt because of your driving.
- After a shooting, cover the bodies and secure all weapons as evidence.
- If you are unsure about classifying a crime, recheck the manual. Hit-and-run and fleeing from arrest are particularly easy to confuse.
