The world of Elden Ring is full of secrets, and with a total of 309 different weapons, you have an extensive arsenal at your disposal to defeat your enemies. To help you decide which weapon is best for you, we’ve created the ultimate Elden Ring weapons guide.
Table of Contents
1) The Best Katanas
Moonveil
The Moonveil is not only the best katana among the Elden Ring weapons, but also one of the most powerful weapons in the game. Luckily, you can find it early in the game. To do so, go to the Gael Tunnel, located on the border between Caelid and Limgrave. If you defeat the Magma Wyrm inside, the Japanese longsword will be yours. You’ll also receive 24,000 runes.
The battle is divided into two stages. In the beginning, the boss is slow and sluggish, but in phase 2 it shoots magma, which makes melee combat much more difficult. Its weakness is its tail.
The damage type of the Moonveil katana is Slash or Pierce. It also has a passive effect that causes blood loss, which is very useful in boss fights. Its talent is Transient Moonlight. To use it, you need 12 Strength, 18 Dexterity, and 23 Intelligence. Its Strength scales with Intelligence, so you can use it in parallel with spells.
Rivers of Blood
Another powerful katana in Elden Ring is Rivers of Blood. You can get this weapon after defeating the NPC Bloody Finger Okina at the Mountaintops of the Giants near the Church of Repose. This sword also triggers Blood loss as a passive. Its talent is Corpse Piler, which is similar to Double Slash but has a longer range.
The power of Rivers of Blood scales with Arcane Energy. It requires 12 Strength, 18 Dexterity, and 20 Arcane to use. It can’t be equipped with Ashes of War but can be upgraded with Smithing Stones.
2) The best wands
Meteorite Staff
For the first few hours of Elden Ring until the middle, the Meteorite Staff is a good choice. Its starting requirements of 6 Strength and 18 Intelligence are very low, especially since it doesn’t require any specific Skill/Dexterity or Intelligence. It boosts Gravity sorceries by 30% and is an extremely powerful starting weapon. However, by mid-game, you should sell it for 200 runes and switch to another staff.
The Meteorite Staff can’t be upgraded with Ashes of War or Smithing Stones and has no unique talents. You can find it in Caelid near the Street of Sages Ruins. Southwest of it are two corpses guarded by poison flowers. One of them is holding the weapon. Its strength scales with Intelligence. The Physical Damage is 39, while critical hits cause 100 damage.
Lusat’s Glintstone Staff
When the Meteor Staff reaches its limits, we recommend Lusat’s Glintstone Staff. It consumes a lot of focus points, but it does a lot of damage. It can be found in Elden Ring as a reward in a chest after defeating the Nox Swordstress and Nox Pirest double bosses in the Town of Sorcery (Sellia) in Caelid. To spawn it, you must first solve the puzzle in the towers.
You’ll need 10 Strength and 52 Intelligence to equip the staff. You can upgrade it with the help of Somber Smithing Stones. If you have the Glintstone Crown, its magic power will increase when you wear both at the same time.
3) The best Greatswords
Dark Moon Greatsword
The Dark Moon Greatsword is one of the Legendary Weapons in Elden Ring and is dropped when you complete Ranni’s quest. You’ll meet the witch Ranni for the first time when you’ve learned the leveling function and can make rune upgrades. Her quest line is very long and takes you to many different places that would remain hidden if you didn’t follow it. In the end, despite its length, it’s “just” a side quest.
In the end, the Ranni at the Moonlight Altar in the Cathedral of Manus Celes will give you this powerful blade. It requires 16 Strength, 11 Dexterity, and 38 Intelligence. It scales with Intelligence and can be upgraded with Somber Smithing Stones. If you’ve played any of FromSoftware’s other games, this sword should look familiar. It has appeared in all of the Dark Souls games as well as Demon’s Souls.
Starscourge Greatsword
The Starscourge Greatsword comes in handy when fighting multiple enemies in Elden Ring. The Starcaller Cry talent can be used to stun enemies and draw them in. Keep in mind, however, that this will consume Focus Points.
You need 38 Strength, 12 Dexterity, and 15 Intelligence to wield the sword. You can get it in exchange for the Remembrance of the Starscourge from Enia in the Roundtable Hold. You can get the Echo by defeating Starscourge General Radahn in Redmane Castle.
Marais Executioner’s Sword
Also of interest is the Marais Executioner’s Sword, which requires 24 Strength, 14 Dexterity, and 23 Arcane. Its talent is Eochaid’s Dancing Blade, a spiraling energy attack that costs 15 Focus Points to use. Its location is Altus Plateau.
You’ll get it after defeating the boss Elemer of the Briar. You may be surprised to learn that the Marais Executioner’s Sword and the Regalia of Eochaid have the same weapon talents. However, the latter deals less damage.
4) Elden Ring Weapons Guide: The best axe
Axe of Godrick
The Axe of Godrick’s skill makes us smile when we read it and our enemies kneel when we cast it. Significantly, it reads: I command thee, kneel! and triggers two shockwaves, which are joined by a third when the button is pressed again.
To carry the axe, your build needs 34 Strength and 22 Dexterity. You can get it by trading the Remembrance of the Grafted with Enia in the Roundtable Hold.
5) The best daggers
Reduvia
The best dagger to start with in Elden Ring is the Reduvia. It has a passive ability that causes massive blood loss. This is even increased by its skill. This is called the Reduvia Blood Blade and is a small blood wave. You need 5 Strength, 13 Dexterity, and 13 Arcane to carry the dagger.
You can obtain Reduvia by defeating the Bloody Finger of Nerijus in Limgrave at the Murkwater Cave together with the Bloody Finger Hunter – Yura. Yura will only come to your aid during the fight and will disappear afterward. The weapon will be dropped once Nerijus kicks the bucket. You’ll have to meet Yura at Agheel Lake first.
Black Knife
Another powerful dagger in Elden Ring is the Black Knife. Its talent is the Blade of Death. When you sneak attack with it, it will cause additional damage to armor. You can get this weapon at the Sainted Hero’s Grave in Altus Plateau. There you’ll encounter a Black Knife assassin. After defeating him, the dagger will be yours.
You will need 8 Strength, 12 Dexterity, and 18 Faith to wield it. You can strengthen the Black Knife even more by using the Ruptured Crystal ear or the Sacred Scorpion Charm. Also, the higher your Faith, the more powerful the Blade of Death will be.
6) The best swords
Sword of Night and Flame
The Sword of Night and Flame is the most popular weapon of its kind, so it definitely belongs in our Elden Ring weapons guide. This legendary sword deals physical, magical, and fire damage. With the Night-and-Flame Stance skill, you can hurl a comet or ignite a conflagration. Although the special attack consumes some of your focus points, it’s very powerful. You can also increase your magic damage with the Intelligence skill, and you can increase your fire damage with higher Faith.
You can find the Sword of Night and Flame in Caria’s Manor. Go east from the Manor Lower Level there. Spirit Soldiers spawn there. After defeating them, go north, drop onto the roof, and climb down the ladder. This will lead you to a chamber with a chest. Inside you can find the weapon. To equip it you need 12 Strength, 12 Dexterity, 24 Faith, and 24 Intelligence.
Eclipse Shotel
The Curved Sword Eclipse Shotel is useful when dealing with enemies whose shields block your blows. Its special feature is that it negates 40% of the shield’s strength. You can find it near the altar of the church in the southeast section of Castle Sol. It will be there for you to pick up without having to fight for it.
The talent of the Shotel of Darkness is the Death Flare. This gives the weapon a death effect. To use it, your build must have at least 10 Strength, 25 Dexterity, and 30 Faith.
7) Elden Ring Best Weapons: The Best Seals
Frenzied Flame Seal
For effective seals in Elden Ring, we recommend using the Frenzied Flame Seal. As the name suggests, it’s a catalyst for the Flame of Frenzy. However, it also increases the Howl of Shabiri and Unendurable Frenzy by 20% each. To make the seL even more powerful, you can upgrade it with Somber Smithing Stones.
It triggers mild Madness and scales with Intelligence and Faith. Like almost all other weapon types, it also scales with your overall Strength stat. The seal is an excellent choice for hybrid spellcasters. You can get it from the place of mercy called Ostracism of the Fiery Flame after completing the quest from Hyetta.
8) The best Spear
Bolt of Gransax
A legendary weapon and the best spear in Elden Ring is the Bolt of Gransax. It requires 20 Strength and 40 Dexterity. It does 20% more damage against dragon-type enemies and 10% more damage against ancient dragon-type enemies. Its skill is the Ancient Lightning Spear, which throws dangerous sparks. To charge it, hold down the talent button.
The Bolt of Gransax is the second longest spear in Elden Ring and has a considerable range. It can be found in the Royal Capital of Leyndell. To find it, go west at the Erdtree Sanctuary Grace and jump over the railing of the stairs near the Crucible Knight onto the platform. From there you can reach the giant spear on which the weapon lies.
9) The best bow
Erdtree Bow
If you want to shoot your arrows as effectively as possible, we recommend the Erdtree Bow. It must be used with both hands and has the skill Mighty Shot. It shoots a large arrow that will knock your opponent down, allowing you to safely attack them at melee range for a few seconds.
You need 20 Strength, 14 Dexterity, and 14 Faith to use the bow.
10) Best Hammer
Devourer’s Scepter
The longest hammer with the longest range and the best weapon of its kind is the Devourer’s Scepter. It requires 24 Strength, 20 Dexterity, and 25 Faith. Its skill is Devourer of Worlds. It steals HP from all enemies in the casting circle. You can get the hammer from Knight/Recusant Bernahl.
In normal gameplay, this happens when he meets you as Recusant Bernahl in the Far East in the Crumbling Farum Azula. If you don’t want to wait that long, you can kill him while he is still a friendly NPC. However, this will cause his quest to fail.
