About three years after the events of the first game and about nine months after Miles Morales, you are back in New York City, trying to keep the peace. In our Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Tips and Tricks, you’ll learn what to look for in combat and which skills work best. We also give you helpful information about Peter and Miles’ suits and show you how to complete stealth missions.

1) Deal With Crime ASAP
As you navigate the open world in Spider-Man 2, you’ll occasionally receive notifications on your phone that a crime has been committed nearby. While there are no negative consequences for ignoring these messages, we recommend you deal with them.
For one thing, you’ll receive significant experience points for each crime you prevent. You’ll also be rewarded with technical parts that you can use to upgrade your suits. Fighting crimes usually doesn’t take long and can be done on your way to the next mission objective.
Especially if you see that another vigilante is already on the scene, you should rush to their aid. Fighting the villains together will earn you a team bonus. And if you, Peter, help your buddy Miles, or Miles helps your buddy, Peter, you’ll even be rewarded with some interaction between the two at the end.
2) Fight in the Air
Whether you’re Peter Parker or Miles Morales, the most effective way to fight in Spider-Man 2 is in the air. Not only are you faster above the ground, but you also prevent your opponents from engaging you in melee attacks. Additionally, the tech tree allows you to unlock skills that increase your aerial damage.
Your Spiderweb abilities have been tweaked slightly from the previous game. You can no longer use impact or web mines to pin enemies to the wall. However, you can now spin web lines anywhere, allowing you to attack from above and out of sight.
The new wing attachments on the Spidey suit also affect gameplay. Instead of using webs, you can now simply swing to stay airborne.
3) Skill Tips
You have three skill trees at your disposal in Spider-Man 2—one for Peter, one for Miles, and one that applies to both superheroes. In the latter, there are a few skills that you should unlock as early as possible. Parry Disarm will help you take out easy opponents as quickly as possible. Ranged attackers, in particular, can be rapidly disarmed with Parry, preventing them from shooting at you.
Combining Bounce Up and Air Swap allows you to continue air combos. The Web Whip is also helpful. You can use it to grab your enemy’s weapon and use it as a projectile against them. It’s also great for simply knocking enemies to the ground. Another essential skill to activate right from the start is the Spider-Jump. With the press of a button, you can catapult yourself into the air and use your wings or spider silk from there.
4) Use Your Gadgets and Abilities Together
Of course, in our Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 tips and tricks, we also want to discuss the changes from its predecessor. One of the biggest is the ability to switch between your gadgets and special attacks during fights. This makes combat much more dynamic, strategic, and faster.
However, you can now only equip four gadgets instead of eight. For example, we found the Web Grabber to be particularly powerful. Use it to grab multiple enemies, then Peter’s Spider Rush or Miles Morales’ Venom Jump. The combinations are endless, and the more skills you unlock, the faster you win battles.
5) Dodge and Parry
Counters and dodges are highly effective in Spider-Man 2, but it all comes down to timing. The tighter you dodge or parry, the better. Of course, you shouldn’t let the window of opportunity pass before you’re hit. But always wait for your Spider-Sense to kick in before performing either action.
If you dodge an attack at the last moment, Miles or Peter will fire a net shot at your opponent. This means they will be unable to use a weapon for a short time and be tied up. Even a close save will give you an extra advantage. If you can execute a perfect counterattack, you’ll make your opponent stumble and then be able to attack them without any resistance.

6) Stealth Tips
Although the number of stealth sections has decreased since the first Marvel’s Spider-Man, knowing how to hide from enemies is still essential. Use the new web lines to create a web over your opponents’ heads. Remember that you can’t have more than six bodies at a time.
The first one will disappear as soon as you spin a seventh web. Link the threads together to traverse the entire area and position yourself above your opponents. From there, you can easily take them down and eliminate enemies without them noticing you.
Mary Jane’s stealth sections have also been reduced in size in Spider-Man 2. The areas are now more extensive and more open. Find the perfect route by hiding behind fences, trees, or benches and crawling through openings or cracks.
7) Spider-Man 2 Tips: Upgrade Your Suits
If you followed our advice in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 about stopping minor crimes, you’ll quickly accumulate a lot of regular and rare tech parts. You can use them to buy new suits or upgrade your existing ones.
We recommend that you don’t buy too many different suits in the first few hours of the game. Instead, upgrade the ones you already have to make them more powerful. For example, increase your Health and activate Double Focus. Improving your damage stats is also very helpful in the early stages.
8) Take Shortcuts on Long Routes
The map of New York City in Spider-Man 2 is extensive and now includes areas like Brooklyn that don’t have skyscrapers. This means you won’t be able to swing your nets through the alleys everywhere, and sometimes, you’ll have to use your suit’s wings. To get around faster, you should also take shortcuts where possible.
For example, there are wind tunnels that run in both directions. You can enter and exit them at any point along their length, so you don’t have to worry about the start and end points. Wherever you see orange lights on the rooftops, you can use the spider catapult to launch yourself into the air. This is a great way to cross water and move around extremely quickly.
The water will no longer slow you down if you have enough momentum. You can use the surface to glide along. But be sure to throw yourself into the air in time to avoid sinking.
9) Unlock Fast Travel
The Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 map is divided into 14 districts (Harlem, Hell’s Kitchen, Chinatown, etc.). Each of these districts has its own progress stats, which you fill up by completing challenges. Completing challenges brings you closer to the next level of the district. In total, there are three levels to reach for each neighborhood.
The first level doubles the amount of tech parts you get in the district. To unlock fast travel, you’ll need to complete the second level. Once that’s done, you can use the map menu to port to that district from anywhere at any time.
When a district’s progress bar is complete in Spider-Man 2, the number of hero tokens will increase. To get the game to 100%, you should complete all the challenges, including the EMS Experiments and FSDN Requests.
