To craft everything you want on the Palpagos Islands, you’ll need some rare materials. In our Palworld tips and tricks for resources, we’ll show you where to find pure quartz, coal, sulfur, and predator cores, and how to get them into your inventory in large quantities.
Table of Contents
1) How to get Predator Cores in Palworld
The Palworld Feybreak update introduced many new features to the game. These include a new island, the Meowmewo weapon, Random Pal Mode, and expeditions. Additionally, there are Predator Cores, which are valuable materials used for crafting special items.
How to recognize Predator Pals
To obtain the cores, you must defeat the so-called Predator Pals. You can identify them by their bright red eyes and the word “Rampaging” above their health bars. They also emit a purple-pink aura. Unlike other Pals, Predator units are much more aggressive. Additionally, they are not tameable.
Where do Predator Pals appear?
The spawn points of the Predator Pals in Palworld change every 30 minutes, so you won’t always find them in the same spot. Some only appear at specific times of the day. It’s best to use the interactive map with potential locations. This will make your search easier and prevent you from wandering around aimlessly. Depending on your level, you’ll get between one and four cores when you defeat the Pals.
How to simplify your search
There is an effective strategy that guarantees you’ll encounter a Predator Pal. First, travel to a teleport point near the Pal you’re targeting. Then go to its spawn point and check if it’s already visible.
If it’s not there yet, use fast travel to teleport to another waypoint and then immediately back to the original one. Fast travel will reload the map, triggering the Pal’s spawn. Simply repeat the process until the desired Pal appears.
2) Palworld tips for coal
The longer you play Palworld, the more essential coal becomes. Especially if you want to craft advanced weapons or equipment, you won’t succeed without this raw material. Unlike charcoal, this material can’t be simply produced yourself; it must be mined from suitable deposits.
Where can you find coal deposits?
Since coal only becomes important later in the game, it doesn’t appear in the starting areas. You’ll only find it in desert regions. The two best farming spots for this resource are the central desert zone and the desert island in the northeast. The latter has the largest deposits but is harder to access than the central desert zone. It’s best to go to the PIDF Tower and start mining at the summit.
How to survive in the desert
You don’t need any special equipment for the green starting areas in Palworld, but if you venture into desert terrain, you should be prepared. Without the right outfit, your trip could become a life-threatening adventure. From level 9 onward, you can craft heat protection clothing. To do this, you need three pieces of cloth and two fire glands. You can craft it at a primitive workbench.
Also, remember that coal is very heavy. If you try to gather a lot of it, you’ll quickly hit your inventory limit. Use an expansion bag or add Cattiva to your group. This will temporarily increase your carrying capacity by 50 units.
3) Ancient Cores
We continue our Palworld Resource Guide with the ancient cores. These can be used to craft items like the electric incubator or the Ability Glasses. They make it easier for you to breed your Pals and fight battles. Ancient Cores are among the rarest and most valuable resources in the entire game.
Where to find Ancient Cores
Unfortunately, there is only one place to get Ancient Cores in Palworld: the Bellanoir Raid. To start the boss raid, you must be at least level 33 and have unlocked the Summoning Altar technology. For the altar, you need one hundred stones and 20 Paldium Fragments.
However, don’t place it in your headquarters, but in a separate warehouse to prevent damage. Depending on your warehouse upgrades, you can bring up to 15 pals into battle and switch between them during the fight.
How to start the Bellanoir raid
To summon it, you need a Bellanoir’s Slab. Complete dungeons or open world chests to gather the fragments. You need four to craft the slab. When you offer it to a Summoning Altar, a powerful Bellanoir will appear.
Tips for fighting Bellanoir
Since Bellanoir is a Dark Pal, Dragon Pals are the best suited to fight him. However, there is also an Ice version of him. Therefore, add a Fire element to your team. We recommend a team consisting of Jetragon, Astegon, Xenogard, Jormuntide Ignis, and Chillet.
4) Pure Quartz
For the automated production of materials in your Palworld base, Pure Quartz is essential. This rare element is indispensable for building modern machines, but can only be found in one location in the game. With Pure Quartz, you can craft circuit boards that allow you to build electric refrigerators, pharmaceutical equipment, and more.
How to get pure quartz
In the far northwest of the map is a snow-covered island. It’s not easy to reach, but it holds several deposits of pure quartz. They look like dark boulders with shiny, silvery tips.
Visually, they resemble ore veins but have a crystalline appearance. They are not hidden in mine shafts; instead, they are scattered across the landscape. Once you reach the snow island, finding them should be easy.
How to mine pure quartz
In theory, you can mine pure quartz in Palworld with any pickaxe. However, since the material is very resistant, we recommend using a metal pickaxe. This makes mining more efficient and saves you time.
The low temperatures on the island require you to wear arctic clothing. This outfit can be unlocked from level 9 in the technology tree. It’s the minimum gear needed for surviving in icy conditions. To spend more time on the island, you should also upgrade to higher-quality winter clothing.
With a pal like Digtoise, you can make farming pure quartz easier. This mining helper is perfect for quick digging and mining. The same goes for Anubis.
5) Sulfur
You need sulfur for firearms and to equip your pals with ammunition. This naturally occurring resource is the basic ingredient for gunpowder. We’ll show you how and where to mine this material as efficiently as possible.
You can find sulfur deposits:
- in desert areas (e.g., in the Twilight Dunes at coordinates -160, -114)
- at Mount Obsidian (either at the Mount Obsidian Midpoint fast travel point or east of the Eternal Pyre Entrance)
- in dungeons (most caves have small deposits of sulfur that you can mine while you’re there)
How to mine sulfur
You need a pickaxe to mine sulfur. From level 11 onward, you can unlock a metal one in the technology tree, which saves time and energy. To craft it, you need 15 stones, 20 wood, and five metal bars. You can craft it at a high-quality workbench, which requires 15 metal bars, 50 pieces of wood, and ten nails.
Optimized sulfur mining
We recommend choosing pals with mining and transport skills. If a deposit is especially large, it’s worth assigning the pals to mine and transport the sulfur automatically. However, your base needs to have enough food, sleeping spaces, and storage boxes for this.
Alternatively, you can mine sulfur without separate storage and bring it to your main base. It’s best to use a flying Pal to access hard-to-reach areas. However, make sure you wear the necessary heat-resistant clothing in places like Mount Obsidian to avoid burns.
