Building a solid base in StarRupture is about efficiency, not perfection. In this StarRupture Building Guide, you’ll learn practical tips for placing structures accurately, using space more efficiently, and planning layouts that scale with new machines, contracts, and resource demands without wasting time or materials.

What to Build First
In StarRupture, a clean start saves you a lot of pain later. Head outside first and go to the Titanium and Wolfram deposits. Place one Ore Excavator at each. These two resources fuel almost everything early on, so getting them running fast is key.

Next, build a compact starter base nearby. Keep distances short to prevent wasted power and slow production.
Your first setup should include:
- A Base Core using a Meteor Heart
- A habitat with an airlock so you can survive inside
- Four Solar Panels for stable energy
- Two Smelters placed between the base and the excavators
- Two Orbital Cargo Launchers on the mining side
Connect rails directly from excavators to smelters, then to the launchers. Set each smelter to the matching ore. From here on, your economy starts producing bars.
StarRupture Base Building Guide
Once you’ve built your starter setup, it’s time to think bigger. Not prettier. Just better. Your first base is about function over style. If something stops working, power is usually the issue. Check your Solar Generators and make sure they’re connected to the base via platforms. No connection means no power.

As you unlock more machines in StarRupture, your base will gradually grow into a web of rails, storage, and processors. Don’t overthink it early on.
Important things to remember:
- Your base doesn’t need to look clean at the start
- Everything just needs to be connected correctly
- You can remove and rebuild structures anytime
- All materials are refunded when you deconstruct
Place your Ore Excavators near the launch site and keep at least two Smelters nearby. Turn Titanium and Wolfram into bars, then send them straight to the Orbital Cargo Launchers.
Early contracts are easy. Later contracts grow more complex. Higher tiers unlock new machines, recipes, and deeper crafting chains. Some items require blueprints, found in blue loot boxes inside abandoned stations. Explore often. Once unlocked, activate recipes at the Recipe Station and keep the factory running.
Find a Good Location For Your Base
Building next to the landing pod in StarRupture is a safe call at the start. You have space, basic resources, and zero stress. But this spot quickly falls off once the game opens up and you need rarer materials.

A better option is to relocate early. Head east past the crater and sulfur zones until you reach a small lake. The north side of that lake is a strong base location. You gain access to both early- and late-game resources, plenty of building space, and very little enemy trouble. This saves you a painful move later.
Tips on How to Maintain Your Base
Once your base in StarRupture grows, organization becomes everything. Try to group the same machine types together. This saves you from constant running around and makes production changes quick and painless. Many players build in straight production lines, which keeps the chaos under control as more machines unlock.

Ore Excavators never stop working as long as there is somewhere for the output to go. Once you unlock the Storage Depot, connect it directly to your excavators.
Why storage matters:
- Prevents production downtime
- Keeps excess ore ready for later use
- Feeds smelters or the Recipe Station on demand
You can chain multiple Storage Depots at any step. More resources waiting is never a bad thing.
When contracts ramp up, don’t spread yourself thin. Build four Orbital Cargo Launchers and focus on two corporations at a time. Two launchers per contract line keep deliveries fast and manageable.
Later, unlock the Building Drone to accelerate construction. Remember, nothing is permanent. Tear down, rebuild, and optimize as you go. That flexibility is the real endgame.
Where to Get Building Materials
At the start of StarRupture, all your building materials come from one place, the Orbital Lander. Inside, you will find the Basic Item Printer, which lets you craft Basic Building Materials. Before you hit print, you need the right resources.

Basic materials require Titanium and Wolfram ore. You can find both while exploring the planet.
Best ways to get them:
- Look for small colored rocks matching Titanium and Wolfram
- Mine meteorites, visible by rising smoke
- Shoot ore patches directly with your mining device
Meteorites often contain multiple ore types. You can mine individual patches, but it is smarter to fully deplete them. Doing so drops a Meteorite Heart, which you’ll need for key structures later. Always take the extra reward.
StarRupture Building Guide: More Tips
- Don’t panic over bad placement: If a building feels wrong, remove it. Open the build menu, hover over the structure, and press F to deconstruct. Just make sure it isn’t disrupting an active production chain.
- Build compact, not wide: You can save a lot of space by thinking vertically. Use ramps, bridges, and platforms to create two-level layouts. With careful planning, rails and power lines can span levels.
- Use height to place buildings more easily: Climb onto rocks or hills before placing structures. The higher vantage point gives you better control and helps avoid awkward placement mistakes.
- Always build on flat ground when possible: Flat terrain makes expansion painless. Distance to resources does not matter since rails can connect everything anyway.
- Redesign often: Your base is never final. Tear it down, rebuild it better, and optimize as new machines unlock. That flexibility is your biggest advantage.
Build Smarter in StarRupture With PLITCH!
Base building in StarRupture can get stressful as production chains grow and resources run thin. This is where PLITCH helps you stay focused on building instead of babysitting systems. With the right StarRupture cheats, you can experiment freely and optimize your base without constant setbacks.
For building and expansion, Building Materials Do Not Decrease is a game-changer. You can rebuild layouts, move machines, and redesign your base without wasting rare resources. Pair this with Fast Resource Mining to stock up on Titanium and Wolfram much faster.
Exploration and construction also become smoother with Unlimited Energy and Unlimited Oxygen, letting you work longer without interruptions. If you are building vertically or on rough terrain, No Fall Damage prevents mistakes from becoming reloads.
