Food and water determine how long you can survive on Arcadia 7. If you ignore them, exploration quickly turns into a struggle. This StarRupture Food and Water guide shows you how to find, produce, and manage food and water efficiently, so you can focus on building and exploring freely.

Where to Get Food in StarRupture
Food becomes important the moment you step off the starting ship. The good news is that the early game is very forgiving if you know where to look.

- Foraged plants are your main food source early on. Polifruits grow almost everywhere and are easy to spot.
- Near the starting area, check the pond surrounded by flowering plants. This spot usually has several Polifruits ready for harvest.
- While exploring, loot fallen expeditioners. They often carry Calorie Bars, which are great for quick nutrition.
Polifruits resemble small corn or carrots and reliably restore calories. They are common enough that you should never feel pressured to rush. Expeditioner bodies are helpful early on, but once looted, they stay empty forever. Stick close to water and plants at the start, and you’ll stay well fed with little effort.
StarRupture Food Production Guide
Eating raw plants works early on in StarRupture, but it won’t carry you very far. Processed food is much more efficient and saves you time later.
How to Process Food
A single Polifruit only restores 11 Calories, which isn’t great. To improve this, you need the Recipe Station.

- The Recipe Station is unlocked by completing Moon Energy Corporation level 2.
- You must produce Titanium Bars and send them via the Orbital Cargo Launcher.
- Once built, open the Consumables tab to research food recipes.
Your first priority should be Calorie Bars. They restore 90 Calories and are perfect for long sessions without constant eating.
To unlock them, you need:
- 80 Polifruit
- 30 Serpent Root
- 200 Data
You can find Serpent Root in the rocky mountains northeast of the starting area.
Better Snacks for Exploration
If you want something lighter, research Figlers.
- They restore Calories and Hydration.
- Perfect for long trips away from your base.
- Made from Pricklers, found in green fields near the landing zone.
Producing Food Long Term
Eventually, scavenged rations will run out. At that point, self-production is mandatory.

- Build the Recipe Station.
- Unlock food recipes using gathered resources.
- Later, unlock the Food Station through Future Health Solutions level 6.
- Craft all unlocked food directly at the Food Station.
You can eat raw ingredients in emergencies, but crafted food is always the better choice.
How to Get Water in StarRupture
Water works a little differently in StarRupture than you might expect. You can’t drink directly from lakes or rivers. Instead, plants do the job for you.
While exploring, look for small waterways, ponds, or lakes to find water. Around these spots, you’ll always see special plants growing nearby.

- These plants are called Hydrobulbs.
- You can collect them directly from the ground.
- Each Hydrobulb restores 15 Hydration when consumed.
After picking one up, open your inventory and expand the item to view its options. Use it to instantly refill your hydration meter. Hydrobulbs are lightweight and easy to carry, so grabbing a few is always smart before leaving your base.
There is another bonus. Hydrobulbs can be analyzed.
- Using them in the Analyzing Station grants 5 Data Points each.
- They grow in large numbers, making them perfect for early Data farming.
Make Food and Water Management Easier with PLITCH!
Food and water can quickly become distractions, especially when you are focused on exploration and base building. PLITCH’s StarRupture cheats give you full control over both systems, so survival never slows you down.
For day-to-day play, Refill Hydration and Refill Calories are perfect for topping up after long trips. If you want to remove the pressure entirely, No Hydration and No Calories disable both mechanics, letting you explore freely.
When gathering ingredients, Fast Resource Mining saves a lot of time. Set Inventory Item Amount is great for testing food production or skipping repetitive farming. If you rely on Hydrobulbs for analysis, Set Data Points helps you progress without endless collecting.
